Faure... happy like a kid in a video game store

The President was in Lisbon for Europe-Africa summit where European and African leaders were seeking to open a new era of closer relations. Even though the summit closed with squabbling over trade and human rights, the new kid on the block, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe went home happy like a kid coming out hands full from a video store. Why? He met the leaders of the two biggest powerhouses of European Union, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany. Both leaders congratulated him for the political reforms he engaged since coming to power and the successful electoral process that ended last October. Recently European Union lifted economic sanctions against Togo, following elections that were judged clean by European Union and an army of 3500 observers. RPT, the ruling party won by a wide margin (50 in 81 seats chamber).
